Additional Information

  • Taste
Our sommelier describes this wine as having an intense, clear caramel appearance, and with heavy and fat legs. This white wine aroma is a wide bouquet of fragrances, especially fruity with apricot and orange blossom. Its balanced aroma includes honey, vanilla, anise, cloves, with some fresh vegetative notes of straw. The first sip is consistent with the wide bouquet notes. The aftertaste is more intense and leaves a full bodied sensation in the mouth. This white wine from the Falanghina grape has aged 6 months in the barrel before its 18 months of in-bottle refining to manifest this unusual combination of a very good aroma with full-bodied mouth feeling.

    Serving Tips
The Falanghina Taburno pairs very well with pork, turkey, chicken, duck, goose, grilled fish and fish soup. Its fruity notes taste just as intense with every sip and provide excellent highlights to any paired dish. This unique aged Falanghina wine is a full-bodied white wine that pairs well with rich meals and special events. It should be served chilled, at temperature of 50°F - 54°F.

    Wine Appellations
The appellation of origin certified by the Italian authority as DOC (Controlled Appellation of Origin) is Taburno. The production zone of the Taburno in the province of Benevento is a district of high hills that are subject to particularly severe winters. Taburno is the fruit of favorable climatic conditions and the know-how and experience of the area's skilled winegrowers, who are the best allies of the local grape varieties, especially Falanghina. Hence the Falanghina del Taburno is a quality wine produced in the territories of a few municipal districts at the feet of Mount Taburno, in Campania, dotted with vineyards and olive groves.

    The Winery History
The winery is situated in the district of the Taburno, an area of Campania that stretches from the river Calore to the slopes of the Pentime Mountain. The hillsides are sunny and covered with grapevines. In these lands, a lot of faith and hard work has taken place to improve the production of these wines. The first vines where planted over this area 150 years ago. The strong vines were grown, nurtured, cultivated, and havested with love and passion from the first makings of this family wine. The winery owner states with a typical intense look of Italian winemakers :”My wine is the blood of these fields and everything that I have in me.”

    Wine Care
MadeInItalyMall selects this wine relying on the best Italian professional Sommeliers with official Wine Tasting and Food Pairing certification as designated by the Italian Association of Sommeliers. In order to preserve the value of this wine, and the consumer's investment, it has been transported at the same controlled temperature from the cellar of the winemaker in Italy to the warehouse in the USA. The wine is stored in a facility maintained at a constant temperature of 57 °F and a humidity level of 65%. At this storing condition this wine may be aged up to 7 years, which is quite interesting for a white wine. Once purchased, the wine should be kept at temperature in the range of 57°F - 61°F preferably in a dark area.
